Blooming for a Cure 2009

Hi everyone! Sorry for the lack of posts lately. Been pretty busy here closing out the school year. I only have ONE more day before summer is officially on! I am excited but a little sad to leave my current school for a new one next year. Not to mention moving all my crap is a lot of work! But I am hoping that my new position will be great.

Last weekend, I went to my sorority's national convention. Our philanthropy is the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance and for the second year in a row, my mom and I collaborated on a quilt to help raise money in our philanthropy raffle. The flowers on the quilt are made with the "omega holes" when I cut out the Omega to make t-shirts. This year, I have done a lot of letter shirts with black and white fabrics, so we decided to use those as the jumping off point. The close up shots have much better lighting - sorry about the full quilt photo's terribleness. I am excited to report that this year, we raised over $700 in our raffle - all to support ovarian cancer awareness. I promise to get back to some other fun projects and start posting again this week! Happy Birthday!

Hi all! Today is my husband's birthday!!! He's already over 30, so we'll just leave his age out of it! LOL As I mentioned yesterday, he doesn't really care about cards (but he is jealous of all the mail I get ... hmmm ...) and he said I could make a card and save a buck or two! He did request no ribbon - the nerve! Since we are both silly, I thought I'd make a silly card. I used an SU! Sock Monkey image that some sweet person on SCS RAKed me awhile back. The paper is from the Basic Grey Lime Rickey paper pad and I added a sentiment from PTI's Everyday Classics set. Pretty cute - hope he likes it. :-) I will write something sappy on the inside like "you're my BFF, my favorite, blah blah blah" - we've only been married like 2 years so we still like each other! LOL I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Sigh of Relief!

Happy Wednesday! I have been sewing up a storm this week. This is a small glimpse into my office - and the 37, yes count them 37, letter shirts that I just finished. Good gracious. I am so glad to get this monkey off my back. LOL I really do love sewing, but sometimes these ginormous orders can get a little overwhelming. I am hauling them all to convention this weekend where I hope to see some of the girls running around in them! :-) Now ... who wants to come fold all these for me?!
I will be back tomorrow with a fun birthday card for my mister! He told me I could make a card (even though he doesn't really care about cards) but requested no ribbon. UGH! He did say I could put a note on the card that said "insert ribbon here". I decided not to - that's tacky. LOL Until tomorrow ...

Quick Thank You

Here's a quick post with a quick thank you card. This is a cute little Stampendous Changito image. I think these monkey stamps are just adorable. I colored him in with Copics, added a PTI New Leaf card stock mat, a little patterned paper and some PTI Raspberry Fizz stitched ribbon. Viola! 1st Annual 2 Sketches 4 You Ultimate Card Showdown

Hi again! Here's a card I made for 2 Sketches 4 You's Ultimate Card Showdown. You can see the sketch and all the details here. This was a pretty neat sketch and I decided to let my Basic Grey Infuse paper pad do most of the work! :-) I have a lot of patterned paper, so I am going to try and use more of it over the next few weeks. Here's what I came up with ...The card is pretty straight forward. I used a lot of layers and added a fun, glittery button on top of the twill bow. I did color the white DMC floss to match using a Copic Marker. Here's a close up of the details...Supplies Used:

Mojo Monday 89

Monday, Monday! It seems like Mondays always just show up abruptly - especially in the morning! LOL Anyway, I haven't played any Mojo Monday sketch challenges in awhile. I keep looking at them and then by the time I get to thinking about it, there's a new one! Anyway, I stopped and played today. You can see the original sketch here - I notice now that I should've moved my sentiment, etc. over a bit to the left. And since I cut enough stuff to 4 make of these little babies, I will do that on my mass producing assembly line. :-) I hope to be back with a few other sketch challenge cards over the next few days. I really should be sewing ... AND I got directions for what to do with those fabric strips today, so I need to get a jump on that and show you how that turns out. :-)
