My Block of Friends

Hi everyone! In my blog hop post I promised I'd be back with another quilt card - this one was made with some of my leftovers from the baby card. I really love these quilts. I made quilts before I got into stamping and I love that this set allows me to make a quilt (and FINISH it) in a reasonable amount of time! haha
Anyway, we all have friends that are always there when we need them ... even when we aren't always the greatest at keeping in touch. I am guilty of that ... a lot. But I hope they know I care all the same. Maybe I should make some paper quilts and send them their way! :-)

Tomorrow is Friday - happy almost TGIF! :-)

Supplies (All Papertrey unless noted):
Card stock: Lemon Tart, Melon Berry, Dark Chocolate, Stampers Select White
Ink: Dark Chocolate, Melon Berry, Copic Markers
Stamps: Quilters Sampler Additions, Quilters Sampler Sentiments
Other: Prima flower, hemp thread, PTI vintage button, SU! Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon, SU! Scallop edge punch, EK Success 3/4" square punch

PTI February Blog Hop

Welcome to my PTI Blog Hop entry for February! I actually have 2 cards for this ... I made one and then couldn't decide if it was "spring" enough (theme for this month) but I loved it, so I made another attempt. I'll show my second card first ...
Spring to me means bright colors - dresses, Easter eggs, flowers, etc. All the pretty things ... God just shows us His wonders in the Spring and makes something out of nothing when flowers start sprouting up out of the ground and off branches. So, I made this flower card with the Friends Til the End set. I stamped one of the flower images onto Melon Berry cardstock, then colored them with Copics (R11 nad RV06). Then I used some Glossy Accents and Starlite glitter from Taylored Expressions to add some bling. I mounted the flower strip on some Raspberry Fizz and New Leaf paper with a lovely bit of Raspberry Fizz swiss dot ribbon. I wasn't sure what sentiment to add, so I left it blank for now. (Options included "Welcome Spring" or something like that ... :-)

And here's the first card I made ...Spring also seems to mean baby bumps! haha It seems like everyone huddled in during the cold holiday season and so Spring brings lots of baby showers! I made this card for just such an occasion. I love this color scheme - Melon Berry, Lemon Tart, and Dark Chocolate. I stamped the Lemon Tart card stock with Melon Berry ink using Polka Dot Basics to make my "fabric". Then I used the Quilters Sampler Additions to make the blocks. I colored them with Copics and put the rest together. I made the sentiment with a mixture of Mixed Messages and Simple Alphabet. I really love this card - I hope you do too! Tomorrow, I will post another card made with a similar design but a different sentiment.

Thanks for hopping by my blog! :-)

Ribbon: Melon Berry luxe satin
Other: SU! scallop edge punch, EK Success 3/4" square punch

Bella Baby Shower Card

Bella stamps are so cute! This one is called Teddybella and I got her in a Bella image swap on SCS. A friend of ours is having a baby in a couple months, so I whipped this up for her shower this past weekend. They are waiting to find out what they are having, so I tried to keep the colors neutral. I really like that dot paper from American Crafts - fun!
Well, that is all for now. But tonight I will post the Papertrey Blog Hop card I made - I am really excited about how it turned out! See ya later!

CPS 104 Sketch

Hope everyone is having a great weekend so far! I hate that it is almost over already! I haven't gotten everything done that I had hoped, but at least the grocery shopping and a lot of the cleaning is done! :-)

I did whip up this little 4-1/4" square card before I have to clean off my desk and work on some shirt orders. This is for the CPS 104 Sketch, sponsored by Papertrey, of course! :-) I feel like its missing something, but I am not sure what. Hmmmm

Cardstock: Melon Berry, New Leaf, Lemon Tart
Ink: Melon Berry
Ribbon: Melon Berry satin
Stamps: Damask Designs, Friends Til the End
Buttons: from PTI's Melon Berry & New Leaf vintage buttons

TGIF & Damask Designs

Happy Friday everyone! Hooray for Fridays! I love Fridays. I think I have mentioned this before. But today I was excited to get home because, thanks to the wonders of technology, I knew my Papertrey box was sitting on my doorstep! :-)

Dawn McVey's first stamp set as a stamp designer was released - Damask Designs. I love it! Here's my first creation with my new stamps and colors. My brain is working overtime about what to make next, but I need to prep some letter shirts before I can stamp some more tonight. So ... what do you think?
Here's a close up of my twill bow and sentiment ... love this color combination!

Cardstock: Melon Berry, New Leaf, Stampers Select White
Ink: Melon Berry, Berry Sorbet
Ribbon: New Leaf grosgrain, Melon Berry twill

CPS 103 Sketch

I'm just full of sketch cards today! haha This is my 3rd post for today, so scroll down!

While I had my pretty paper out, I decided to go for the CPS 103 sketch. This is what I came up with ... I used a bow instead of a circle embellishment at the top. I really like the color scheme this paper sets you up with! Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
Cardstock: SU! Pink Pirouette
Patterned Paper: SU! Bella Rose DP
Stamp: SU! Upsy Daisy
Ink: SU! Chocolate Chip
Other: Prima flower, Martha Stewart pearl, PTI stitched ribbon in Ripe Avocado

Mojo 74 Sketch

It's been awhile since I tackled a Mojo Monday sketch. But I went for this one. I used some Bella Rose paper from SU!, which is soooo pretty. I wish I had more of it! :-)
Once, I got done with the sketch, I wasn't too sure about the off center strip - I am so much better with formal balance and symmetry! So, I decided to make a 4-1/4" square card that based based off the sketch with more of that lovely paper. The little on is on its way to SCS Birthday girl!

Supplies:
Cardstock: PTI White
Stamps: SU! Upsy Daisy
Ink: SU! Chocolate Chip
Patterned Paper: SU! Bella Rose
Other: PTI Stitched Ribbon in Ripe Avocado, Martha Stewart pearls, Prima flowers

My Fav V-Day Card

So, this afternoon I was going through all my blogs with Google Reader and as I scrolled down this post on Nicole's PTI blog I saw my card! I don't think I posted it here, but its the first one I made with the Heart Prints set and got me started on the Ocean Tides/White/Raspberry Fizz/Lavender Moon kick that I was on. (I promise this is the last V-day card I will post for awhile! haha)

Check out my new watermark that I got from Beth. She whipped this up in less than 24 hours!

Quick Birthday Card

Here's a little birthday card I whipped up the other. I had planned to work it into the Mojo Monday sketch from last week, but I just didn't get it all together to make it happen. I used some BG Urban Prarie paper and brads. And then I stamped some flowers and a sentiment from PTI's Garden of Life set. I wish I had used the green & blue paper as the first layer (and that my camera had done a better job capturing the colors - but that is probably just operator error! hah), but I thought it was pretty cute. It's on its way to one of the SCS RAK group members for their birthday. Hope she likes it!

A new creation

Here's a little nursery wall hanging that I made for my friend's nursery. I'll have to admit, that it took me way too long to get to actually finish it. But I finally did and here's how it turned out. This was a custom request - she specifically chose the scripture and color scheme and the insects. I used the pattern from one of the Quilts & More magazines for the actual insects and the rest is all my design and pattern (including the appliqued letters). Here's a close up shot of the butterfly.
Well, that's about it for today. :-) Hope your week is off to a great start!

A few more Valentines ...

A few more quick Valentine's Day cards for you ...

The first one is from a monthly kit swap I have going on SCS. This is a simple card. The white base under the image is actually embossed paper - the photo doesn't really do it much justice.
The other two cards in the photo below are little ones I whipped up with Papertrey paper and stamps. (Ribbon is from my stash.) I used some leftover paper from the BFF card I made earlier this week and added some punched out hearts and sentiments from the Heart Prints stamp set and viola! They should be arriving at some friends' houses today! :-)

Happy Saturday everyone!

Dawn's Favorites Color Challenge

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! Today is the last day of the PTI anniversary celebration - all the new goodies are released tonight at midnight.

Today, they introduced Dawn McVey's damask set and challenged us to create a card inspired by a color combo she has used in her sneak peeks this week. I decided to go with Aqua Mist/Dark Chocolate/Lemon Tart/White combo - since a lot of the others had colors that aren't available until tomorrow! :-)

I started with Aqua Mist and used a Damask image from an Inkadinkado set that I had. I am sure that I will love Dawn's versions more - sometimes I have trouble getting the Inkadinko stamps to stamp really clearly. Anyway, I made my pattern and then added a strip of Dark Chocolate, layered with a strip of Lemon Tart stamped w/ the little dots from PTI's Polka Dot Basics. Then I wrapped Dark Chocolate and Aqua Mist satin ribbons around the layers and tied them with a bit of hemp twine and a button from Basic Grey's Urban Prarie line. Finally, I added the "Fabsolutely Fabulous" sentiment from PTI's Mixed Messages set before adhering it all to a white card. Here's a close up of the button and ribbon.

What do you think?

Here's the details on the card:
Stamps: Damask image from Inkadinkado; PTI Polka Dot Basics, Mixed Messages
Paper & Ink from PTI: CS - White, Aqua Mist, Lemon Tart, Dark Chocolate; Ink - Aqua Mist, Dark Chocolate
Ribbon: PTI Satin in Lemon Tart, Aqua Mist
Other: Button from BG Urban Prairie; hemp twine

And I loved this color combo so much, I made another card with it too ...

For this one, I used an SU chipboard flower to create a pattern for my cardstock flower - I just traced it and cut it out. Then I stamped it with the Polka Dot Basics.

I used a chipboard circle as a base for the flower center - I added a ribbon ruffle around the circle and then popped a circle of Dark Chocolate CS onto the center. Then I layered that with a Lemon Tart center stamped with "merci" from the Mixed Messages set. And finished it off with a BG Urban Prairie button and a bit of hemp twine.

I stitched the Dark Chocolate CS strip onto the Aqua Mist square with my sewing machine and mounted the flower and then the whole card front onto a 4-1/4 square white card base. I really like how it turned out. I have been thinking about this ribbon ruffle for petals for a couple of days, so I am glad to have finally had a chance to work it out!

Well, off to get some sewing done before my dinner date with my mister! Have a great Saturday everyone!

Bee Mine!

Happy almost Friday everyone! I am so looking forward to tomorrow. This has been a long week! And Friday means relaxing on the couch with the mister and catching up on all our shows. (And knowing I get to sleep in the next morning!)

This is a little v-day card I made with an image I got in a Stampendous/MFT image swap on SCS. I wish I had gotten more of these bee-uties! :-) Aren't they cute?! I had fun coloring them with my Copics.

I added a little sentiment from PTI's Heart Prints and all the paper (except the heart paper) is from PTI. I can't remember what brand the patterned paper is, but I know my mom picked it up for me at Archivers. And the ribbon is also from PTI - love all their yummy products!

I hope everyone is having a great week so far and will get to enjoy a LOVEly weekend :-)

Best Friend Card Challenge

Today, Nicole's challenge was to make a card for your best friend. She's got a fun prize - 2 kits so you can make cards with your BFF! :-)

I really loved my ribbon skirt on yesterday's card, so I tried it again on today's card. I really love black, white, and hot pink so I decided to go with that color combo. I created the striped paper using the Faux Ribbon set - I stamped the black stripes and then went back with the Raspberry Fizz ink for the dotted stripes. Then I trimmed down my "designer paper" and added the ribbon skirt along one side. I mounted that on a piece of True Black cardstock and wrapped a piece of Raspberry Fizz twill around the "seam". I used the Fresh Alphabet set to make the "BFF" sentiment at the top. It was all easy peasy!

Supplies all by Papertrey Ink:
Cardstock: White, True Black
Ink: Black & Raspberry Fizz
Ribbon: Raspberry Fizz Twill & Swiss Dot
Stamps: Faux Ribbon, Fresh Alphabet

CPS102 - Papertrey Style

Papertrey's anniversary celebration has me addicted to messing up my craft room! haha

Today's challenge is hosted through Card Positioning Systems (CPS). The sketch is here. Nicole is also giving away a ginormous container of buttons - I hope I guessed close enough, early enough! :-)

I really love how this turned out. Love it! Can't decide to send it or keep it! haha I decided to go with the 4-1/4" square size again - I think its just too cute and it fits in a regular A2 envelope. I did base the ribbon "skirt" off of Dawn's card. I will definitely be trying it again.

Supplies:
Cardstock: PTI Summer Sunrise, Lemon Tart
DP & Buttons: Basic Grey Urban Prarie
Ribbon: PTI Raspberry Fizz grosgrain
Stamps: PTI Faux Ribbon
Ink: SU Chocolate Chip
Other: SU chipboard heart, DMC brown floss

Kristina's Color Inspiration #40

Here's my 3rd post for today. I have had a wonderful afternoon/evening of stamping! :-)

This is Kristina's color inspiration for this week. Well, I am not sure that I am totally in love with how this came out ... it was better in my head. But I do love the color combo and will try it out again in the future - but I am not sure if that will be before the challenge ends! :-)

Colors for this challenge - Taken with Teal, So Saffron, More Mustard, White, and Old Olive.

Supplies Used: Stamps - PTI Faux Ribbon, Garden of Life, & Mixed Messages; CS - PTI White, Lemon Tart, SU Old Olive; Ink - Teal from the craft store and SU Old Olive and More Mustard; Ribbon from Taylored Expressions.

SCA04 Sketch

Sara is a stamping friend from SCS and she has some challenges that she's started up so I thought I'd play along.

The sketch called for 5 horizontal rows and a sentiment - simple. I like it. I took a cue from some monogram notecards I got printed once at Swoozies and did my version up with some ribbon scraps in my fav color combo - hot pink, lime and black. Sweet! What do you think?

It was pretty simple to make - I stuck some ribbon down with a strip of adhesive in the middle of the strips and the zig-zag stitched them in place with my sewing machine. A quick stamp from PTI's Faux Ribbon and there you have it!

PTI Challenge - Altered Bag

Happy almost Friday everyone! :-) Papertrey is celebrating its 2nd birthday and there is lots of stuff going on that is way cool. Today, Nicole posted a challenge - alter a bag. Well, didn't I spend the rest of my day at work daydreaming about what to do. haha

I decided to use some little treat bags (the lollipop size) to wrap up some yummy Dove chocolates. I made a little topper for the bag and stamped it up with the "XOXO" and heart stamps from PTI's Heart Print set. I then stamped a heart in Raspberry Fizz ink onto some Summer Sunrise cardstock and cut it out. After I adhered the topper to the bag, I wrapped some Summer Sunrise twill around it and added the heart. I think it turned out pretty cute for a nice little "thinking of you" treat for friends or some coworkers. Speaking of which, I better make a few more little bags so I will eat a few less of these chocolates! :-)
